Note – The first 6 episodes were produced under the name Your Business Decision. Beginning Oct. 1, 2017 the podcast was re-branded to Financially Empowered with Ralph Russell.
IRA accounts have been around for decades now, and many of you may have a traditional IRA, a Roth IRA, or a SEP IRA, or your retirement assets are in a 401k.
In most cases, these assets are parked in mutual funds, stocks, bonds or exchange traded index funds. Very little attention is paid to the fact that for years, you have also had alternative options for your IRA money.
Your IRA can invest in a number of assets, from residential and commercial investment real estate (fix and flips, buy, repair, and rent out) private equity (purchasing interests in a privately held operating company or start up), the purchase of discounted notes, select precious metals and more!
We will discuss the alternative options with our guest, Clay Malcolm, Senior Business Development Officer with New Direction IRA. New Direction IRA is a leading administrator for alternative investment self directed IRA accounts. New Direction administers over 1500 retirement accounts and over $1.7 Billion is assets!
On the home page of this site, you can download the New Direction IRA Self Directed Investment Guide which goes into the alternative options available for your IRA and HSA accounts.

Before considering any alternative IRA investment, I would suggest consulting with your tax, legal and or financial team.
